The heartwarming beginnings
Second Chance Horse Rescue is dedicated to rescuing horses in Malta and finding them homes in the UK where they can live in green fields. At just 16 years old, our founder, Alistair, set up the rescue. By 19, his passion and determination to build better lives for these horses in Malta and in new homes in the UK led to the establishment of the UK base. Occasionally, circumstances change, and horses need to return to us, which is why Second Chance Horse Rescue UK was officially set up in May 2026.
Our mission and goals
Our main aim is to offer horses a safe place to return should they need it. We work tirelessly to rehabilitate, care for, and, where possible, rehome the horses under our care. In some cases, rehoming isn't an option, and for these horses, we ensure they will always have a loving and permanent home with us. Every horse deserves a second chance, and we are committed to providing just that.
